A recent article in the Wall Street Journal caught my interest. It seems that those in my "Baby Boomer" generation don't want to be labeled grandparents. Actually they don't want to be named "Grandma" or "Grandpa". They dislike the titles Nana, Bubbe, Grandmother, Grandfather, Grandmom, Granddad; the list could go on and on.

It seems as though these fifty-something grandparents think being a grandparent makes them old. I can't believe they don't realize the blessing they have in being young enough to be ALIVE when they are grandparents. My father-in-law died when Cassie was seven months old. He never saw any of his other eight grandchildren. He was thrilled to be called a Papu. I, for one, can't WAIT to be called a YiaYia at the age of forty-six.
YiaYia = gray hair, big handbag, floppy slippers....hey! that's me!
