Just a few quick documents from this past Tuesday which was the start of school in these parts. Andrew, being at the very beginning of his college career at UML was up bright and early on Tuesday, but that was likely because the school was offering a free breakfast that day. Teddy, being 5, was also up very early and was very excited to start on his first day of homeschooling, ever. Note the excitement on their faces! Note also the clothes Ted was wearing. Yikes. Actually, he grabbed those shorts out of a bag of clothes someone gave us, and loves them because "They're just like what Jamie wears!" Thanks, Jamie. Anyhow, by 7:00AM Andrew was gone. The rest of the crew was a bit slower getting started that morning, and were not up by the offical "be up by" time that mom had set. So she unleashed her secret weapon! That's a harmonica he's holding. He marched into everybody's room, blowing into it in that special way that only a five year old can. That got them out of bed, does it every time. Raymond was smiling, but a bit sluggish. Tess was just chipper, if a bit light sensitive. She was so excited that she made certain to wear her "WOOT" shirt for opening day. Chaz was so tired that he dozed off at breakfast, and was saved from a nasty head injury only by the cushioning effect of his half-eaten cranberry muffin (homemade, of course). Check out Tess in that picture also, she is in fine form. Chaz must have gotten bored with school work at some point, because I found a bunch of pictures like this on my camera.
Somewhat unrelated to school work, or perhaps because it was comming up, Mrs. A has become a minor home-improvement cyclone. Lots-O-painting going on around here these past few weeks. In the past she has suffered from a very rare and strange condition that would cause her to choose paint colors that looked great in the store, but that somehow would magically transform into a shade of purple only moments after being put on the wall. After all, how could a color called "Strawberry whip fizzle" end up purple? The best doctors in the country were at a loss to explain it. So this time she chose to play it safe, and shift to a green-based color palette. Even today when I arrived home from work there she was, brush and can of "Sun-Bleached Litchen" semi-gloss in hand, painting away. Don't get in her way if you know what's good for you.
